Meet Ji, who lives and works in Taiwan and find out more about the tasks of a Technical Writer.
WHERE AND WHAT?
I live and work in Taipei, Taiwan, and as the sole Technical Writer at Silexica, I am responsible for all technical documentation for the company (User Guides, Release Notes, Installation Guides, etc.), in addition to recording Walkthrough and How-To videos that demonstrate the SLX FPGA product. I am fortunate to be given the opportunity to formulate a comprehensive release documentation plan for the company, which raises the efficiency of the documentation process and provides clear responsibilities for all stakeholders.
BEST THING ABOUT YOUR WORK?
I am excited to be working with such a diverse team of dedicated professionals from around the world. Being a part of the Product Team means that I have the opportunity to travel to various countries (I.e. XDF), in addition to the trips I make to and from Germany and Taiwan. In addition, I am excited that I can contribute to a young company with great potential; being a relatively small company means that it is easy for me to see the result of my work.
BEST DEVELOPMENTS SINCE YOU JOINED?
Silexica has taken major strides in proving its worth in the FPGA / HLS market, expanding opportunities for itself and continuously innovating to be a valuable partner of renowned companies, including Xilinx. In addition, I am very impressed at the teamwork and dedication of the employees and management at the company in enduring through the tough year of Covid-19.
HOW DO YOU EXPERIENCE OUR VALUES (TEAM, INNOVATION, CUSTOMER ORIENTATION) IN YOUR DAILY WORK LIFE?
I value the diversity of the team at Silexica; I admire the spirit of hard work and innovation without sacrificing work-life balance. I like that the management team at Silexica is always open to suggestions for improving the work environment.
WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING IF YOU HADN’T BECOME A ENGINEERING PROFESSIONAL?
I graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering and started my career as a QA Analyst; however, I realized that my passion lies in language and writing. If I had not chosen to make the career switch to Technical Writing, I may still be in Quality Assurance; I may have also migrated to Business Analysis.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE ITEM OR PLACE IN THE OFFICE?
Aside from the flexibility and convenience of working from my home office, I like the modern startup vibe of the Cologne office; I especially like the smart meeting room booking system being utilized in the office.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?
I enjoy playing board games, trying out new restaurants, traveling (when I get the chance), jogging, and playing badminton.
